INCCRRA (Illinois Network Child Care Resource and Referral Agency) is excited to be able to add to our team! We are accepting applications state-wide (not just Bloomington). The selected candidate will report to the nearest office located in one of our 39 Regions across the state of Illinois.
SUMMARY
The Birth to Five Illinois Communications Assistant will support the communications functions of both the Birth to Five Illinois Leadership Team and the 39 Regional Offices of the Birth to Five Illinois Department.
The ideal candidate is comfortable in a "start-up" environment with the skills to learn in real-time, pivot quickly, and effectively engage a broad spectrum of stakeholders at varying levels of leadership. The Birth to Five Illinois Communications Assistant should be an active listener, able to work independently, and is someone committed to racial, economic, and geographic equity.
The Birth to Five Illinois Communications Assistant reports to the Communications Manager. The Communications Assistant must live within the state of Illinois and be productive in a hybrid work environment (some days in the office every week).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Social Media:
- Manage Birth to Five Illinois' social media presence by creating and sharing content, scheduling posts, and interacting with audiences across platforms.
- Monitor 39 Regional Facebook Groups.
- Support monthly analytics reports to inform campaign content, utilization, and strategy.
- Graphic Design:
- Develop communications pieces, including branded flyers, social media posts, and digital graphics.
- Support Regional Offices with project requests to meet their local outreach needs.
- Website Design & Development:
- Update website content.
- Apply plain language and accessibility standards to communication materials sufficient to ensure clear and concise messaging that can be accessed by all.
- Support monthly analytics reports to optimize content and analyze user engagement.
- Video Editing:
- Brainstorm concepts and storyboards for video content.
- Edit raw footage into polished videos for websites and social media.
- Train Regional staff on technology and communications platforms, as needed.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Travel within the State as needed, up to 5%.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree or professional experience in relevant field.
- Ability to manage social media dashboards for the execution and analysis of digital marketing programs.
- Skilled in graphic design with the ability to create compelling graphics and design elements using a variety of tools and/or applications – experience with Canva preferred.
- Foundational website editing skills – experience with Squarespace preferred.
- Quick learner willing to research and learn independently.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized with the ability to manage multiple project deadlines efficiently.
- Ability to work well in a fast-moving, start-up environment.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of community members and staff.
- Ability to work well independently and within a collaborative team environment.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills.
- Use computers, Microsoft Office, email, and video conferencing proficiently
- Must hold a valid Illinois State Driver's License.
- Must meet minimum vehicle insurance from the Illinois State insurance requirement for personal vehicle; $100,000 Bodily Injury per accident (single person) / $300,000 Bodily Injury per accident max (multiple persons) / $25,000 Property damage.
SUPERVISORY DUITES
This position has no supervisory duties.
EQUIPMENT/SOFTWARE REQUIRED
Use of computer, phone, printer and basic office equipment. Operating systems include/but not limited to: Outlook, email, SLACK, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Docs etc; Microsoft Office software; Specific training provided on INCCRRA's Data Tracking Program
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently. Any additional language skills are a plus.
